Following Hurricane Helene, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris say they have activated many emergency resources to help Americans.
But Jonathan Howard with the Florida State Guard Special Mission Unit, who has spent days flying helicopters to rescue residents of North Carolina, says the feds are nowhere to be seen:
[Warning: Strong Language for the U.S. federal government]
"They're killing these people ... they're allowing these people to f******* in the mountains right now."
Nothing gets my blood boiling like this.
We have no problem activating troops and billions of dollars for foreign wars, but we can't get to people who are GOING TO DIE WITHOUT IMMEDIATE ASSISTANCE ... IN NORTH CAROLINA????
What he's saying squares up with numerous other testimonies.
[Strong language in this last one]
Part of the problem is that these private pilots are looking for ways to help, but are being threatened by the authorities, who think they will put lives in danger.
But a lot of the good ol' boys are just ignoring those threats:
A chain of command is good. Finding people who might only have hours or days to live is infinitely better. At least 166 people are dead.
Because I don't want us to have unproductive anger, here are some resources for you to see how you might help those in need.
If you have a helicopter, you know what to do. If you don't have a chopper, this is a Google doc of ways to help Asheville, North Carolina, which was hit very hard by flooding and seems to have the bulk of the recorded deaths. You'll see a list of local orgs that are helping right now, along with additional resource links. ๐
Other organizations that are helping include Samaritan's Purse and the US Veterans Corps.
Samaritan's Purse has a link for Americans who need assistance.
I'll end with a shoutout to the one American politician who is able to get things done:
Why are we only seeing things like this from Florida?
