This interview with Sylvester Stallone right after the release of Rocky is amazing and shows us why we need a new Rocky today

This is what Hollywood is missing today. Heart and patriotism.

Rocky came at a time in the 70s when movies were really, really dark. Lots of cynicism and a lot of darkness.

Rocky was written to be a light in the darkness.

Everything was anti-society, anti- Christ, anti-government, anti-everything and there was no one to root for. And I also feel movies are very cyclic. I wanted to get back into the cycle of movies in the 40s and 50s where people say "Hey, I miss the good old films" but Hollywood hasn't taken heed and hasn't made any good old fashioned type films where morality was at the forefront.

Man oh man, do we need another Rocky today.

Let me pause here and say if you've never seen Rocky, stop what you're doing and watch Rocky. It's an American classic.

Honestly, this is why Top Gun Maverick is a juggernaut at the box office still. It's pro-America with a likable hero to cheer for. We don't get that very often.

Good and evil are too close in today's Hollywood because Hollywood doesn't actually understand "good" anymore.

Stallone goes on to detail the hardships he went through to get this movie made. He's a nobody and he wants to make an impact on the movie industry. This dude worked his tail off.

Sylvester Stallone IS Rocky and he is an American hero.
