This Kansas public high school just added Wagyu beef to its menu, and all I want to know is if it’s too late to go back to school

There's been a rash of people being arrested posing as high school students lately.

And to be honest, I never thought high school was that great. I just don't see the appeal.

Not until now.

Washburn Rural high school in Topeka, Kansas, just announced that they will be adding Wagyu beef to their cafeteria menu.

The school is working with Booth Creek Wagyu out of Manhattan, Kansas, to procure the meat.

'The owner of the company values doing business with schools, and he wants to give back to the community, and we're getting such a good price,' Food Service Supervisor Stan Vallis said. 'It's extremely affordable and it's high-quality product.'

High quality?

It's Wagyu beef!

If they're getting certified Wagyu beef, that stuff costs upwards of $200 per pound.

Walmart sells the cheaper Americanized stuff at $20 per pound, which is still expensive for beef, but the report on this story says,

The meat comes partially from Japanese Beef Cattle, which is extremely rare in America.

I want to assume that there's some kind of mix up, but I suppose it's possible that this company is donating the real deal to the school as some sort of charity work.

I think the only way to solve this dilemma is for Not the Bee to send me undercover as a high school student in Kansas.

I'll be just like John Cryer in Hiding Out, except that instead of running from the mob, I'll be running from the lunch ladies, eating all their steak.

I'm sure you‘re thinking that the fact that I even know who John Cryer is shows that my plan is flawed. And you may be right. I don't know that I'd blend in so well considering one of my kids is in high school.

So, maybe this plan has some flaws.

I'd probably have a better shot infiltrating Mark Zuckerberg's Wagyu ranch in Hawaii.

Since you all insist, I'll talk it over with the editors and see if a paid trip to Hawaii as an undercover cow is a fair compromise.
