Barbecue: One of the world's great foods.
America's greatest contribution to global cuisine.
Is there any meal that's better?
Apparently one weird lady in Nashville doesn't agree:
A local woman is suing Roy's Meat Service, a local meat market and barbeque restaurant located in East Nashville, claiming that the smell of grilling and smoked meats is a "nuisance." ...
[T]he neighbor isn't happy, and filed a lawsuit against the local business, alleging among other things that part of the restaurant encroaches on her property and that the smoke from the constant grilling is a nuisance. Castillo says in the complaint that the constant smoking of ribs, chicken and pork affect her "ability to enjoy her property as well as negatively affects her health."
A Nashville, Tennessee resident is apparently so bothered by the smell of smoke-cooked meat that she's willing to bring a lawsuit about it?
Again, in Nashville, Tennessee?
Nashville, one of the great barbecue cities of the world?
Someone needs to ask this poor woman ASAP:
I mean, seriously. If smoked meat bothers you that much, why on Earth would you move to any mid-sized Tennessee town, let alone one of its great cities? The place is practically wreathed in meat smoke 24/7!
Owner Jeff Roy, meanwhile, has apparently tried to satisfy this anti-BBQite's complaints, but to no avail:
"I just put my foot down, that's all. I'm through. You do what you gotta do…
We are just a little country store here in the middle of East Nashville. We want people to feel it when they come that it's a family-run business."
That's just the way it is, pitmaster. Keep smoking.
It'd be a shame for this neighbor if y'all checked out Roy Meat Service next time you're in Nashville!
