While more and more humans are choosing a more natural birth experience, this mama moose decided to go the opposite route when she strolled up to Providence Hospital in Anchorage.
Witnessing the miracle of birth was not exactly what hospital visitors were expecting when they went down to the cafeteria for a snack, but that's exactly what happened!
One onlooker, identified as Louise C., told Alaska's News Source,
I see a ton of people peering over the balcony and I'm like, ‘What's going on?' and so I go over and there's a moose who just gave birth, and it's so exciting because this is a once-in-a-lifetime thing to witness. It was just the cutest thing ever and I've never witnessed something like that.
The cow moose and her calf remained on the lawn outside the hospital for several hours, and visitors were able to see the baby moose from inside the hospital while the mama licked it clean and the calf took its first wobbly steps.
Staff and visitors kept a safe distance, as the mom and baby seemed to be doing just fine without any medical intervention.
