From Furbies to Nintendo Switches, every year, there's that one toy that parents go over-the-edge crazy to get their kids. And this year is no different.
Meet 2022's most hard-to-find toy: Little Live Pets - Mama Surprise.
It features a mama guinea pig that children care for by petting it and feeding it celery. Then, when it's ready, they put it in its enclosure and soon a baby guinea pig appears with a present, and then another, and another. The premise behind the toy includes both the irresistible elements of waiting for a surprise, having a pet, and mothers with babies.
The thing that I like most about this toy is the total lack of gender confusion. It's called Mama Surprise, though you know woke media outlets won't let that go. The toy has been referred to as a birthing guinea pig by the very few that covered it at all.
But clearly you can't market that woke nonsense to children, who seem to know more about how biology works than most adults working in journalism, education, or government these days.
Of course, as it goes in these holiday fads, the toy is impossible to find in retail stores.
When asked if there would be more inventory available, Belinda Gruebner, chief marketing officer for the toy's manufacturer Moose Toys, said this:
Mama Surprise is definitely one of our breakout stars this holiday. There is additional Mama Surprise inventory coming throughout the holiday season, but given its popularity, it sells fast, so we recommend consumers buy it if they see it.
Alternatively, I've seen them for sale on Ebay and other online sources for over $100 if a parent wanted to ensure their kids have one for Christmas, but read the fine print carefully on those options.
You don't want to end up with a defective Turbo Man, fighting your way out of a warehouse full of Santa's helpers.
