Top tennis player in the world booted from U.S. Open after mostly peaceful strike on line judge

Flushing Meadows, NY - Novak Djokovic, the world's best player and current number one in the world, was kicked out of the U.S. Open on Sunday after smashing a ball in disgust and accidentally striking a line judge (watch the video, it's very obvious that it was an accident).

Despite my snarky headline, it's more than obvious that Djoker did not intend any harm, and the fact that he was booted from the tournament seems a tad bit ridiculous. Novak has had several run-ins with the crowd and referees in NY in the past, but he has always been a top class sportsman, sometimes overruling bad line calls that had favored him and always being respectful to the other players on tour.

This outburst was not a great example of his sportsmanship, yet it definitely did not merit a default from the tournament. Give the man a warning. He at least deserves the benefit of the doubt.

At least he didn't tell the line ump he was going to shove the ball down her ******* throat...
