Truckers have a reputation for being loners — out there on the road for long hours, listening to old-school country music, sleeping at flyover truck stops.
But make no mistake, these guys can be total softies when they want to be:
Honey is a 14-year-old yellow lab. ...
[She] came to [rescue outfit] S.O.A.R. after her owner died. ...
The team said Honey quickly made an impact, but age and mobility have slowed her down.
"She had some mobility issues when she arrived and unfortunately, they're not getting any better even with care," [director Angela] Hopson said. "So, it's time for her to pass, and we want to help with that."
No doubt, this good old pup is no spring chicken anymore:
The shelter, however, didn't want to just send her off. Honey's owner had been a truck driver and the pup had ridden along in big rigs her entire life. So they wanted her to have one final cruise before she left:
Hopson took to social media and asked if any of the nonprofit's followers were truck drivers and if they'd be willing to give Honey one last ride - something she had done for her entire life.
Truck drivers quickly responded to the post, saying their services were available for Honey's final ride.
"I think we could have probably done a ride every 30 minutes with the way the people responded to it," David Bishop, with S.O.A.R., said.
The elderly pup got the ride-along of a lifetime:

The best part: She even got a serving of Wendy's to go along with it:

The pup was put down on Monday of this week, accompanied by family members of her original owner.
Glad you got one last spin in a big rig, Honey!
