The leadership of Harvard University has said the school would remain steadfast in its commitment to its "constitutional rights" and refuse to comply with demands placed on it by the Trump administration — and now it's going to cost them.

Late Monday, news broke that the administration had frozen $2.2 billion in federal grants for the institution due to its failure to effectively push back against recent waves of antisemitic sentiment on its campus.

From the Washington Examiner:

Officials had warned the school that they would pull federal funding if the school didn't strike a deal with them to address antisemitism, among other concerns. It only took hours for them to respond to the university, adding that $60 million in ‘multi-year contract value' would also be frozen.

The university had officially notified the administration in a letter earlier on Monday that it would not comply with its demands to end its DEI programs and other factors that contributed to on-campus antisemitism.

'The university will not surrender its independence or relinquish its constitutional rights,' the letter said. 'Neither Harvard nor any other private university can allow itself to be taken over by the federal government. Accordingly, Harvard will not accept the government's terms as an agreement in principle.'

'Harvard remains open to dialogue about what the university has done, and is planning to do, to improve the experience of every member of its community,' it continued. 'But Harvard is not prepared to agree to demands that go beyond the lawful authority of this or any administration.'

The prestigious university now faces having $2.2 billion in federal grant money frozen, with more consequences to potentially follow.

Harvard is now very mad that they have to follow the Civil Rights laws that leftists have used for decades to force businesses to "bake the cake," arguing that the university should be exempt from those discrimination laws in order to maintain its own constitutional rights.

(If you know the history of the civil rights movement and the way leftists have weaponized it to tear down the Constitution, you know how ironic this is.)

Some replies to that insane example of "rules for thee but not for me":

Here's a wild suggestion for Harvard: why not, instead of serving as a left-wing think tank hell-bent on indoctrinating students, just…

… teach them normal stuff?
