Okay, how did it take this long for Republicans to get on board with ballot harvesting?
I mean, it's not necessarily cheating. In fact, 25 states along with D.C. actually allow ballot harvesting, so why haven't we been doing it all along?
What's that?
Because it's a cheap and dishonest way to win an election?
Sure.
Sure it is.
But it's the only way the Democrats can beat us.
And if we don't start playing the game by their rules, we'll lose every big election until the end of time.
Here's what Trump had to say on the issue. Keep in mind, this is the same guy who's been out of his gourd against mail-in ballots ever since Democrats took advantage of them back in 2020 in order to beat him.
The change of heart can be observed in a Trump fundraising email released earlier this week which read, "The radical Democrats have used ballot harvesting to cancel out YOUR vote and walk away with elections that they NEVER should have won. But I'm doing something HUGE to fight back."
He continued: "Our path forward is to MASTER the Democrats' own game of harvesting ballots in every state we can. But that also means we need to start laying the foundation for victory RIGHT NOW."
I'll leave you this link again so you can check out all the states that allow ballot harvesting.
Whether we like it or not, we're gonna have to start playing the game like the Democrats do. It's cheap and unsportsmanlike, but then again, so is politics in general. So it's time to catch up.
Anyhow, it looks like this is going to be a big issue in the upcoming Republican primary, and I bet the other candidates are going to mop the floor with Trump on this issue in particular. Like, why are you only making this "change of heart" now?
Trump, who was famously critical of mail-in votes following the 2020 election, is changing his tune following comments by some GOP 2024 presidential hopefuls, like Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, who have criticized the party for not capitalizing on opportunities in recent elections by focusing too much on Election Day turnout.
Trump, I'm sure, will accept the criticism and have a few things to say in return. But we cannot lose sight of our end goal here which is beating the Democrats at their own game and playing dirty with the most legal of ballot harvesting.
If we do that, we have a chance.
If we don't, well...
