Well, here we are.
The Republican president responsible for the overturn of Roe v. Wade is out here attacking other Republicans for being TOO pro-life.
I remember when Trump was the first Republican president to attend the March for Life and now, because he's running in a primary, he thinks Ron DeSantis's 6-week-abortion ban is harsh.
Here's what Trump had to say about his chief Republican rival's pro-life policies in an interview with The Messenger:
"He has to do what he has to do," Trump said when asked about Florida's new abortion restrictions. "If you look at what DeSantis did, a lot of people don't even know if he knew what he was doing. But he signed six weeks, and many people within the pro-life movement feel that that was too harsh."
Trump wouldn't say if he believed a six week ban went too far.
I don't know any people in the pro-life movement who think six weeks is "too harsh" on women.
It's a very moderate position on abortion when looked at on a global scale, and that's not even getting into the moral implications of being "moderate" on the issue of murder.
Why does Trump refuse to make a clear stance on abortion? He's not going to say anything that puts him out of step with a majority of voters on the abortion issue.
But he won't pass up the opportunity to attack another Republican for being "too harsh."
I guess primary season is gonna primary season.
