As if American politics needed something to make it even more unpredictable and chaotic, who had Tucker Carlson saying Trump is too old to be president again on their bingo card?
That is Tucker Carlson, Crown Prince in Trump kingdom, saying he believes Trump should have participated in the Republican debate, and that Trump is too old to be president.
I was obviously interested to see what the reaction was going to be when MAGA World watched this and they didn't disappoint.
Because of the timing of his rise, and because of his tireless efforts to question and push back against the relentless barrage of spurious attacks against former President Donald Trump by the Left and their media lapdogs, Carlson is almost as beloved in MAGA World as Trump himself.
The entire Trump campaign apparatus is constructed around the narrative that there exists a deep state in DC, hidden and buried beneath layers of bureaucracy, avoiding accountability while destroying the country. No one has done a more effective job making the case for the existence of such a nefarious cabal like Tucker Carlson.
There is still a long time until Iowa, and in many ways the battle for the nomination has not even started. But Tucker Carlson announcing his belief that Trump's age should disqualify him?
I wasn't expecting that, and I'm going to guess neither were the former president nor his supporters!
