It can be easy to forget just how low gas prices were last spring, but the Bureau of Labor Statistics is here to remind us:
The price of gasoline rose by 48.0 percent from March 2021 to March 2022, according to numbers released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics...
"Increases in the indexes for gasoline, shelter, and food were the largest contributors to the seasonally adjusted all items increase," said the BLS's Consumer Price Index statement released today.
Hmm, "gasoline, shelter, and food." Those are all pretty important things. It's, you know, not all that great that the price of all three are on a relentless upward trajectory.
Among those price hikes, though, gas really sticks out:
In just one month—from February to March—the seasonally adjusted price of gasoline went up 18.3 percent...
"The gasoline index rose sharply in March, increasing 18.3 percent after rising 6.6 percent in February. (Before seasonal adjustment, gasoline prices rose 19.8 percent in March.)" said BLS.
When will it all end???
Remember to vote in November, folks!
