You know the old saying that a man might build a house, but it takes a wife to make a home? Well, K Srinivasa Gupta of the Koppal District of Karnataka, India, hasn't just heard it; he believes it.
Gupta's wife, Madhavi, died in a car crash three years ago without ever realizing her dream of moving into a beautiful new bungalow. To posthumously honor her memory, Gupta decided to build her the house of her dreams. But he felt it wouldn't really feel like home without her in it.
That's where things get a LITTLE weird. At the prompting of his architect, Gupta commissioned toy and interior design company Gombe Mane to create a life-sized, silicone statue of her likeness.
Wait...
You heard me right. When the statue was finished, he proudly displayed her sitting on a sofa in his new home, then invited all of his loved ones over for a housewarming.
"Everyone was so surprised," Gupta told a reporter with The News Minute. "They all believed for a few seconds that it could actually be my wife. It was my wife's dream to construct a bungalow. Now she is not there to live in it. The statue is a way to reinforce that she is still here."
It was a heartwarming housewarming. Or...maybe it was just...creepy.
