There's some serious sibling rivalry and camaraderie points being gained and lost in this story.

This could have easily been a real disaster as two snowmobiling brothers found themselves on the wrong side of an avalanche in Utah on Christmas eve.

One brother caused the avalanche, burying his brother alive.

The brothers were in the Franklin Basin area of Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest when one of them triggered the avalanche while "side-hilling in a bowl beneath a cliff band in Steep Hollow," an initial accident report from the Utah Avalanche Center read.

He saw the slope "ripple below and around him" and was able to escape by riding off the north flank of the avalanche, according to the report.

But the man's brother was not so lucky. He was unable to escape the cascade of snow caused by brother and ended up underneath the snow trapped, just hoping for his brother to rescue him.

"I could see his hand, his gloves, kind of poking out, waving," Braeden Hansen said Wednesday, a day after the avalanche buried Hunter Hansen, his brother, in the Franklin Basin, close to the Idaho border.

"But by the time I got to him, he was about 2 feet, his head was about 2 feet under the snow," Braeden said.

This is a real "I got you, bro!" moment, isn't it?

Braeden dug his brother out from the snow and they were both able to ride out of the danger zone to get help.

'I just cleared the snow away from his head and got his helmet off so that he could start breathing again, and then just started digging his body out from there,' Braeden said.

The dude is a hero, but he also caused the avalanche, so I guess it's a wash.

Braeden is never going to hear the end of it at the family gatherings, is he?
