Well, for all those who say that the culture wars are pointless and a waste of time, what exactly are we fighting for if not the culture of America?
Conservatives have been on the losing end of the culture war for some time now and it's really starting to show in what Americans now value, or don't value, compared to just a couple of decades ago.
Our country is almost unrecognizable.
The only value listed here that's gaining ground is money. That's what happens when conservatives become all about taxes and spending but don't care about the soul of the nation.
Patriotism no longer matters, religion doesn't matter, having children is looked down upon, and being involved in the community is no longer seen as even remotely important, especially since Covid.
Some 23% of adults under age 30 said in the new survey that patriotism was very important to them personally, compared with 59% of seniors ages 65 or older. Some 31% of younger respondents said that religion was very important to them, compared with 55% among seniors.
Only 23% of adults under age 30 said that having children was very important.
But hey, at least the Republicans pass a good tax bill every now and then while the country completely goes to pot.
This isn't the America we once knew.
One hopes that it's not too late to turn this trend around.
But it's going to take serious leadership.
