This is next-level surreal:
The quake was a magnitude 7.0 and struck 180 miles south of Mexico City. Fortunately, there were no reports of major damage and only 1 reported death.
The lights, meanwhile, are a strange phenomenon that scientists can't fully explain. It could be electrical output from certain types of rock combined with the friction of a quake, or electrical pulses from arcing that occurs when power lines shake.
Either way, it looks like something straight out of a sci-fi film!
