It is a universal phenomenon that Dad, when he's driving on a road trip, will go to any lengths to Make Good Time. There have been reports of dads offroading it into the Grand Canyon and attaching Cessna engines to their Siennas in order to Make Good Time.

Sometimes, however, the impulse can go a little too far:

[The clip] shows a red car, with two parents and their 1-year-old child inside, stuck on the Marie Thumas Bridge in the city of Leuven, Brussels broadcaster VRT reported. Then, without warning, the span starts to rise into the air to make way for a ship, causing the vehicle to slide back.

When the drawbridge is nearly perpendicular to the road, the car topples backward and noisily lands upside down on a closed barrier, trapping the family of three inside, the Daily Mail reported.

Thankfully, the occupants were eventually extricated by firefighters and rushed to an area hospital, where it was determined that they suffered only minor injuries.

Yeah it's never a great idea to be on top of a bridge with a gap in it. As we all know, only once in history has a vehicle ever successfully pulled that off:

The lesson: Making good time is good, but don't push it, Dad.
