Far from being diminished or diluted, the Trump Effect in 2024 seems to be even stronger than it was in 2016.
Listen to this Connecticut schoolteacher go off on Trump supporters, threatening them with violence after Trump's landslide victory.
[Warning: Strong Language]
[If] all the people I care about aren't gonna be safe in America...neither the *** are you guys. ...
You're not in the clear! And just please, please don't test your gangster on me. Because you will end, on a stretcher, gone, forever. ...
And if you voted for Trump, literally, please delete me, block me...or step to me, so that I know what's up, and I can handle you, how I see fit.
Yes, this schoolteacher of small children was only put on "temporary leave" over her violent threats. But apparently she read the writing on the wall and elected to resign โ while engaging in an apology tour at the same time:
This is not who I am as a professional, or who I am as a teacher. I've devoted my whole life to this, preparing my whole life. I always wanted to be a teacher, from the time I was a young child. ...
I'm just trying to do what's right now, to get my life back on track, and get back to what I love. ...
To those parents, I am so, so sorry that you had to see that side of me.
Parents:
I gotta commend this lady for resigning. I can't imagine she had much of a career in teaching, not when she's threatening the parents of probably more than half of her students.
And honestly, based on these other remarks she's made to the media, I am not sure she herself fully grasps the situation:
The message came off wrong, which was if this is going to give people the permission in their minds to enact violence against women, I wanted to say, I'm not going down without a fight. I will fight for myself, and if someone was to try to hurt me, I would protect myself.
The lesson here: Maybe don't threaten to violently assault people because of how they vote.
