This is pretty cool to see.

Despite how many Cubs fans might feel, and the loser New York Mets announcer feels, Cubs rookie Matt Shaw skipped Sunday's game against the Reds:

Charlie was someone I at met at the apartments in Arizona where I lived, and someone who was one of the biggest Cub fans I ever met. And he texted me after every game ... [He was] obviously someone who was really faithful, so we connected on that front as well ...

His wife Erika had texted me, asking me if I would come to the funeral and I felt as though it was something really important for me to do ...

A reporter asked him about the possible "blacklash" ...

And he responded in this way:

I'm not concerned at all [about the backlash], my connection with Charlie was through our faith. That's something that drives me every day. That's the reason why I'm able to do what I do every day.

What an awesome testimony of Charlie's faith and friendship. And what a testament to Shaw that he would skip an important Major League game to be there for Erika and the Kirk family.
