We're willing to bet you haven't seen this one.
In the video, George HW Bush is asked whether he thinks the children of illegal aliens should be allowed to attend Texas public schools for free.
Take a look at Bush's answer, after which Reagan interjects:
Bush then says he wants to see a solution to illegal immigration that is sensitive to "labor needs," ie - cheap labor for corporations.
Sounds about right.
Bush then says:
These are good people! Strong people! Part of my family is a Mexican!
"Part of my family is a Mexican"
Not to be outdone, Reagan interjects:
They're talking about putting up a fence. Why don't we work out some recognition of our mutual problems, make it possible for them to come here with a work permit, and then while they're working and earning here, they pay taxes here. And when they want to go back, they can go back. And open the border both ways.
Not stopping illegal immigration decades ago was one of the great failures of the Republican Party.
Sadly, they were too beholden to corporations and their need for cheap labor.
