If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen,... and don't forget to throw something over your head so no one will recognize you, and hope the fire will consume all the evidence.
Here is the Tweet stream.
Leslie McAdoo Gordon, who has been all over this from the start along with myself and some others had a good take on it.
As you can see on the site, there's nothing left but this.
The majestic landscape with the American flag may be manipulative but at least it's insincere. If you look closely, this has to be world's tiniest flag, like it was pulled off a Fourth of July holiday cake from Costco. And those aren't amber waves of grain, those are green waves of Scotts Turf Builder. I'm sure the ants find it inspiring.
Let's break the message down.
"The Trump Accountability Project was started because we believe restoring democratic norms are vital to protecting America's future."
"Democratic Party norms," I believe is what they meant to say. Probably just a typo.
"A critical part of making sure the nation never finds itself in this position again is to make sure those members of the Trump administration responsible for loosening the guardrails of our democracy are not rewarded with book deals, TV contracts, or six-figure salaries in the private sector based on that experience."
Do you think they understand how wrong this is? I don't think they understand how wrong this is.
There's a real clunkiness to the writing, too. "Loosening the guardrails of our democracy"? I get the metaphor they were going for, but how exactly do you "loosen" a guardrail? Is that a thing? Do you regularly hear about how we need massive infrastructure spending so as to attend to our nation's dilapidated bridges and loosening guardrails?
"Ultimately, however, the goal of the project was to play a part in restoring the soul of the nation..."
By threatening the livelihoods of political opponents. I don't think it's the soul of the nation that needs restoring.
"...and we'll follow President-elect Biden's lead to get us there."
Perhaps Uncle Joe had a talk with them.
"Accordingly, in the spirit of the President-elect's call to build a more united country, this project will no longer be active."
No longer "active," or just no longer "public"? I mean, these guys were making lists of judges for retribution. I'm sorry, but I'm not in a particularly trusting mood.
Oh, and they are continuing to cover their tracks. I noticed in the original article that one of Hari Sevugan's tweets had been disappeared.
No problem!
Don't you hate it when that happens?
These were not the only people making lists as we well know, but this was one of the more creepy. Let's keep shining a light on them, shall we?
