Western Washington University has created segregated housing for black students and can someone please explain to me how this is considered "progress"

Hello everyone and welcome to 2021 where if you want to be a true anti-racist you need to segregate human beings based on their race.

Yes, as much as I don't want this story to be real, it is:

Western Washington University has designated the fourth floor of Alma Clark Glass Hall as housing reserved for its "Black Affinity Housing program," becoming the latest school to adopt such a program.

Apparently this is a popular program which is being implemented at Stanford and Cornell as well.

Because segregation is so cool these days that everyone will soon be doing it.

GO OVER THERE, BLACK PEOPLE!!

I don't understand this. It's so dumb.

Like hey, let's just throw these black people over here onto the fourth floor of the Alma Clark Glass Hall and call it a day. Hopefully they can all get to know each other better and help each other understand black history. But we wouldn't want them to tell their unique stories to white people or anything like that. Let's keep it in the black family. White people are gross and don't understand the struggle. Plus, white people have, like, a lot of influence in American politics, and we wouldn't want them understanding the struggle of the black community. Then they might actually do something about it in the future.

That would be bad.

So yeah, let's keep these black folks away from the rest of the students.

Anyhow, Western Washington updated their Black Affinity Housing website once the news spread of their segregated housing for black students:

WWU does not discriminate on the basis of race. No student is required to join the Black Affinity Housing community, and no student is excluded from joining it. The community welcomes all residents who are interested in exploring and celebrating the diversity of Black and African American people and culture, with historical and contemporary contexts.

It's incredibly easy to read the future these days. Mark my words: the fourth floor of the Alma Clark Glass Hall will soon become a safe space for people of color. Translation: a space where white people aren't allowed.

These progressive ideas are so predictable.

Here's a webinar from back in April. Notice the lack of black students present on the call.
