Someone is way too comfortable with the way things are. It's almost as if he can't let it go.

But Dr. Fauci doesn't see being vaccinated as a green light to resume the myriad of activities he and the rest of us have been deprived of.

Of course he doesn't.

Oh, and for the record, many of us have not been deprived of those things despite Dr. Fauci's disapproval.

Movie theaters where viewers remove their masks to snack on popcorn?

It's a no for Dr. Fauci. "That would still be of concern to me," he said.

Masked, socially distanced, fully vaccinated.

Still concerned.

We've put a neurotic in charge of infectious diseases.

Also called psychoneurosis. a functional disorder in which feelings of anxiety, obsessional thoughts, compulsive acts, and physical complaints without objective evidence of disease, in various degrees and patterns, dominate the personality.

A relatively mild personality disorder typified by excessive anxiety or indecision and a degree of social or interpersonal maladjustment.

Bars and restaurants where maskless people are eating and drinking inside?

Fauci said those are still off the table, too.

Millions of unvaccinated people have been going to bars and restaurants including me since last year.

But not the fully vaccinated Dr. Fauci. He's going to wait just a little bit forever.

What about travel?

Even though the @CDCgov said that vaccinated Americans can travel domestically, Fauci won't be planning trips. "I don't see that in my life," he said. "When this is all over, then I'll worry about that."

Yep, tens of millions of non-vaccinated people are traveling now, have been traveling, and will continue to travel while Dr. Fauci is busy washing his three masks and peeking through the blinds to make sure it's safe to get his mail.

When is it all over for Anthony Fauci? We flattened the curve, as he instructed, a long time ago. Does the curve need to start going in the opposite direction? Do people have to start uncatching Covid to satisfy him?

Covid is real, and people need to make decisions that best balance the risks for themselves, including Dr. Fauci, but what virtue is he signaling exactly when fully vaccinated, masked, and socially distanced, that is, doing all the things we were told would permit us to lead halfway normal lives is not enough for Dr. Fauci to come out from under his covers?

I've seen the terror in the eyes of people he's turned into complete neurotics. It's frightening.

Fortunately he's not the ultimate decision-maker, but he still has enormous influence and people still look to him for guidance.

Perhaps they should remember this quote from him.

"I'm a very unusual person," he said.

Yes, yes you are.
