The Sketchersons are a comedy troupe based in Toronto, Ontario. And they're apparently, just a little too white.
They recently took to Facebook to reckon with the group's whiteness. In the post, they explain why they deleted a post from last June that was in support of Black Lives Matter, "The white members of the group prioritized being a part of the BLM conversation over listening to Black voices; we were virtue signaling."
At least they had the honesty to admit they were virtue signaling then. For now, we'll be waiting for the retraction following this most recent statement.
They go on to name the specific steps they will be taking to rectify their internal problems, beginning with not returning to performing until they have added more Black voices to the cast.
Speaking of not virtue signaling, they just casually insert that they have donated some of their profits to BLM and you should too.
