Well, that was quick!
While the state of Missouri was the first to outright ban abortions today after the Dobbs ruling (with Texas not far behind), several pro-life states are taking actions to immediately end abortions.
And this just dropped from the Planned Parenthood centers in Wisconsin:
An 1849 Wisconsin law banning abortion may have just gone back into effect, and to avoid the possibility of lawsuits or prosecution under that law, Planned Parenthood has ordered that the Madison and Milwaukee clinics halt all scheduled abortion procedures.
From the AP:
Planned Parenthood in Wisconsin immediately halted all scheduled abortions at its clinics in Madison, Milwaukee and Sheboygan following the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling striking down the Roe v. Wade decision on Friday.
Wisconsin has an 1849 law that bans abortion, except to save the life of the mother, but whether that law is enforceable was expected to be the center of yet-to-be-filed lawsuits. Wisconsin Attorney General Josh Kaul, a Democrat, said he would have news next week about next steps in reaction to the court's ruling.
Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin President Tanya Atkinson said in a statement that the group will now focus on getting patients in Wisconsin access to "safe abortion care where it remains legal, offering travel assistance, and providing appropriate follow-up care when they return home."
Wisconsin legislators nearly 200 years ago have an active hand in saving the lives of preborn babies TODAY!
I never would have believed it.
Praise be to God!
