Police Rescue Woman Who Decided To Climb 70-Foot-High Water Tower And Jump In For An Evening Swim
· Aug 10, 2021 · NottheBee.com

Last week, an Alabama woman decided to go for a leisurely little swim. Inside a water tank. That was filled with 350,000 gallons of water.

The woman broke through a fence and climbed the ladder to get inside the 70-foot-high tank and then literally just went for a swim.

A neighbor, a retired local police officer, saw the woman climbing in and alerted the authorities.

The city posted the story on their Facebook Page:

The water tower had been painted earlier in the week, and apparently, the hatch had not been secured. How the woman could have guessed that before climbing the 70-foot-ladder is beyond me. It would have been really disappointing to climb all that way only to be locked out.

Let this be a reminder to all of you: ALWAYS LOCK YOUR WATER TOWERS!

The firefighters found the woman swimming inside the tank and convinced her to swim to them where they secured her with a harness and escorted her back down the ladder to dry land.

The woman was taken by the police for a mental evaluation and I hope she has since gotten the help she so obviously needs.
