Disney's parks have thrilling rides, which all contain some element of risk, but Emma McGuinness never expected that her 30th-birthday celebration at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon in Orlando would end in an atomic wedgie so severe it would send her to the hospital.
Behold the "Humunga Kowabunga" waterslide:
The Humunga propels riders up to 40 miles per hour down a 214-foot, 60-degree tube until they hit a pool of water at the bottom.
The employees at the top instruct the riders to cross their arms and legs as they descend, and if you've ever wondered why, McGuinness's lawsuit will make you never want to skirt those rules.
She claims that during her 2019 visit, the slide jolted her into the air, and when she came down, her legs were forced apart.
I'll spare you the gruesome details, but let's just say a 40-mile-per-hour water wedgie does some damage.
She was transported to a local hospital by ambulance for medical care and treatment and eventually transported to another hospital for the repair of her gynecologic injuries by a specialist.
She is suing Disney for damages in excess of $50,000. Her husband is also suing the company for "loss of consortium," or loss of intimate relations, as a result of the injury.
