Bernie supporter who made his now-famous mittens had her business destroyed by high taxes, apparently doesn't see the irony

You've seen the spectacular Bernie memes all over the place, but have you heard the story behind the mittens?

The now-famous mittens were crafted by a Vermont schoolteacher named Jen Ellisa HUGE Bernie fanwho makes the mittens with repurposed wool sweaters and fleece made from recycled plastic bottles.

She sent them to Bernie via his daughter-in-law, who operates a local preschool, back in 2016.

I must say…that's super cool!

And according to CNN, Business Insider, and many local news outlets, the mittens have become so popular that Ellis has SOLD OUT of them!

Well good for her!

But why has Ellis—who supports medicare for all and a bunch of other free programs that require funding through higher taxes—sold out of her now-famous mittens?

Well, according to Ellis—and I'll just use a big long quote here—

People have been contacting me thinking that they can get mittens, and actually they can't. I don't have any more, and I don't have much of a mitten business anymore because it really wasn't worth it. Independent crafters get really taken for a ride by the federal government. We get taxed to the nth degree, and it wasn't really worth it pursuing that as a business, even as a side hustle. I mostly just make them as gifts.

So congratulations Jen Ellis! Thanks to federal taxes—which if all your hopes and dreams come true will grow dramatically higher—you're out of a job which could've made you a whole lot of money this week.

Just a suggestion. But if you hate high taxes, it might be time to look a little closer at ol' Bernie's plans.
