For some reason, they thought it was super important to be a part of the culture wars.
Now that people have pointed out that they just want to eat candy without having to think about sexualized purple candies teaching them about modern gender theory (those bigots!), the brand is stepping back.
Of course, they could have (like sane people) just stopped the woke advertising and focused on making candy.
Instead, they dropped this whole PR stunt where they decided to replace their cartoon candies with an SNL cast member who has played roles mocking the Trump family, because SNL definitely hasn't been one-sided or partial in the culture wars over the past decade.
