Young man interns at fire department, finds out he's working for the firefighters who delivered him 18 years ago!

This kind of cheerful serendipity is something you normally only find in Hallmark movies:

This young fellow, O'Tavais Harris, was born in his mother Lateshia Hall's bedroom in 2005. A team of firefighters was only just able to make it in time to help deliver the fellow safely, after which they left and he and his mother were taken to the hospital.

Eighteen years later, OT graduated from high school and signed up for Knoxville's Summer in the City program, "a paid, eight-week internship that allows participants between ages 16 and 22 to get a close-up look at various city departments."

Randomly assigned to the fire department, OT was asked about his life by Assistant Chief Kevin Faddis. The discussion led both to realize that Faddis himself had overseen OT's birth:

Faddis said he was stunned by the realization that he had helped bring one of the fire department's summer interns into the world.

"I'd held him in my arms and heard his first cry," said Faddis, 50.

As Mrs. Hall noted, OT "doesn't even want to be a firefighter," so his being assigned to the city fire department as part of the internship was "one in a million."

Faddis, meanwhile, called it "a real treat for us to get to know the young man we helped bring into the world 18 years ago."
