Chilean-born actor Pedro Pascal is in everything these days. But does he know that he's carving out another reputation as a fierce defender of pro-life politics in Hollywood?

Only an ardent defender of the human rights of pre-born babies could say something like what Pascal recently said:

I can't think of anything more vile, and small, and pathetic than terrorizing the smallest, most vulnerable community of people who want nothing from you, except the right to exist.

Some have suggested Pascal was actually talking about transgender people in that quote because his brother dresses like a woman. They cite as evidence his weekend verbal attack on author J.K. Rowling, who Pascal called a "heinous loser" because she defends women's rights against male imposters.

His personal beef with Rowling notwithstanding, there's no way that quote could have been referencing the so-called "transgender community." That community is anything but small and vulnerable. They wield wildly disproportionate power, controlling not just the conduct, but also the language of an entire population.

No one could possibly suggest that the "transgender community" wants nothing except the "right to exist." They, like every citizen of the United States, already have that right. The laws protect them, as they protect everyone else, from violence, intimidation, and harassment.

No law can prevent people from being mean or hateful in their words, of course. Just ask overweight people, or unathletic, awkward, and nerdy ones. Or pretty much every person that once was in junior high school. No one can be forced to like you or agree with you.

But being permitted to exist? We're all equally guaranteed that right.

Well, almost all of us.

There is a "community" whose human rights are considered negotiable, dependent upon the convenience of another. Totally incapable of defending themselves, they are the very definition of "vulnerable." And surely "terrorizing" is an appropriate term to use in describing the act of chasing a prenatal baby around the sanctuary of the womb with forceps and a suction tip, crushing that baby's skull and vacuuming out her parts.

Pascal couldn't be more correct in describing such grotesque butchery as "vile." I guess I'm just pleasantly surprised that he is so willing to risk his reputation and job security to take a stand for human dignity and worth.

Because that is what he's doing, right?
