A lot of people in my circles are celebrating right now.
For them, the nation was headed in the wrong direction and a resounding electoral win followed by the joys of Thanksgiving, football, Christmas, and shopping is the best end of the year they could have asked for.
But while conservatives are resting on their laurels and thinking that the good times are back in fashion, there is an almost equally large group of our countrymen (and womxn) who are appalled at where this nation is currently at. For them, the winter months ahead look grim and bleak.
As our fearless president might say:
The Left has its own convictions, and though it may be that they have lost the middle-ground, quasi-cultural-Christian American who is wallowing in sin but still loves baseball, apple pie, and the Constitution, they still have a lot of capital that can be cashed in on a rainy day.
The Left controls most of our cultural institutions, both formal and informal. Even the most rural, conservative, Bible-believing communities - the places we think have preserved faith and tradition the most - are addled with squishy leaders who may pay lip service to the God of heaven, but actually believe most of what secular humanism and post-modernism preaches.
The battle for America hasn't ended because a famous businessman was re-elected to live in 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW.
What lies before us is not assured greatness. What lies before us now is an opportunity for greatness.
You can't decide who Trump will appoint to lead entire swaths of the federal government. You can't control the next SCOTUS appointment. You can't control how many foreign criminals are deported from your state. You can't control what China might do in the next 4 years. You can't determine whether Elon Musk's push to colonize Mars is successful.
Not only do you have no control over these things, but you have absolutely no idea what the world will look like in 10 years, let alone the next few centuries.
But what you do have control over is the thing that the disillusioned Left needs more than ever right now: The capability to change the world through the only way that progress is possible.
Obeying God.
The ingredients that make civilization possible - the fundamental yeast that is working through the dough of society and allowing it to rise to new heights - haven't changed.
In order for great-but-flawed men like Trump or Elon to succeed, there will need to be many more of us doing the normal work of simply ... being human.
But in order to be human, you must understand what the blueprint for humanity is. Is humanity simply an idea up for debate, a term that can be defined by as many genders, sexualities, and polycules as one can imagine? Or is there a definition of what a human actually is?
'So God created man in his own image; he created him in the image of God; he created them male and female. God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful, multiply, fill the earth, and subdue it. Rule the fish of the sea, the birds of the sky, and every creature that crawls on the earth."' - Genesis 1:27-28
And
'What is man that you remember him, or the son of man that you care for him? You made him lower than the angels for a short time; you crowned him with glory and honor and subjected everything under his feet.' - Hebrews 2:6-8, quoting Psalm 8
And
'Then I heard a loud voice from the throne: "God's dwelling is with humanity, and he will live with them. They will be his peoples, and God himself will be with them and will be their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying, and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away."' - Revelation 21:3-4
God has put eternity in our hearts, and promised those that obey and believe in Him a future that none of us can truly comprehend.
'Night will be no more; people will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, because the Lord God will give them light, and they will reign forever and ever.' - Revelation 22:5
If it is true that God has designed humanity to follow certain designs, and if following these designs will lead to something even greater, then we should seek out those blueprints with all our hearts.
This is the reason that Christians are so adamant about changing their country's laws and institutions to honor God: Not because they are Bible-thumping kill joys who relish in having tyrannical power over other people, but because they know the simple, basic designs for marriage, family, and communities that lead to prosperity and greatness.
There is a reason so many people's hearts are stirred by little ol' Samwise Gamgee.
There is a reason so many adults are addicted to a show about cartoon dogs.
These are images of what societal progress looks like.
The Left has spent the last century in a fever dream trying to "deconstruct" the very things that make progress possible, thinking in their madness that such destruction is actually enlightenment.
But their gods and philosophers are failing them. We aren't getting closer to the transhuman, money-free utopia in the sky where genders are infinite, abortions are free, and cishetero white men are a thing of the past. Over half the nation just voted to crush that dream.
Because of this, as we launch into 2025, there will certainly be outburst of violence from the lefties who are watching their belief system die.
Instead of resting on your laurels (or spending your free time trolling them online), this is your opportunity to give them the reason for the hope that you have.
They've been told you are a fascist Nazi imbecile who wants to implement the Handmaiden's Hunger Games. What you and I must do is find a way to delete this Woke Mind Virus by helping them understand that the traditions we conserve are actually the embers of progress that make human flourishing and freedom possible. There is a momentous opportunity to reach people who have been jarred out of their echo chambers over the past few weeks.
If we fail - If we take this moment to be lazy or disinterested or smug - then the Left will direct all of its energy into revenge.
So as we dive headfirst into the holiday season, pray how you might show the wokies the hope of your "alt-right" progressivism. This is the time to be bold in such evangelism, if only to break the control that WaPo and MSNBC have on so many people's minds.
