A group calling themselves Robins des Ruelles (Backstreet Robins) dressed up like Santas and his elves to rob a Montreal grocery store.

Pardon their French, but here's the video:

The Montreal Gazette reports that the group self-identifies as modern-day Robin Hoods: robbing from the rich and giving to the poor.

This time they stole about $5,000 in groceries and left some under a Christmas tree in Place Valois square for poor people with a letter explaining their actions:

There's no other way to say it: a handful of companies are holding our vital needs hostage. They continue to oppress the population, to siphon off as much money as possible from them, simply because they can. For us, that is the theft and it's they who are the bandits.

They say the rest will be distributed via food banks.

Unlike Robin Hood, these bozos are robbing normal people getting a paycheck at a business, while simultaneously raising the prices the grocery store owners will have to charge to cover the loss (which sounds fairly similar to what the government does with taxes).

Montreal police (SPVM) spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant says no arrests have been made.

‘We're looking into it,' he said, adding that the police are investigating surveillance footage and social media videos.

Why do I get the feeling le shérif de Nottingham here isn't going to work too hard to stop these holiday bandits?
