The LA Times revealed on Tuesday, with a glowing report, that 40% of California's Inmates are now vaccinated.

The most recent numbers indicated that 76% of inmates in the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation facilities have received one dose of the vaccine or had already been infected with the virus.

The article points to the inherent dangers of outbreaks in prisons, much like those that have been seen in nursing homes. The median age of prisoners, however, is only 36. As opposed to the median age of nursing home residents which is 157.

California's latest vaccination reports show that about 17.6% of the adult population has received one dose, while around 6.5% has received the second dose.

Should we even be surprised that California gives its prisoners preferential treatment?
