74-year-old Colorado man fights off four bears that invaded his home

Another day, another bear attack.

An unidentified 74-year-old man in Lake City, Colorado, was minding his business, just trying to have a casual Thursday last week, when some uninvited guests burst through his patio door ready for a fight.

A mother black bear and her three cubs attacked the man, who fought them off with a chair. However, the mother bear would charge him and knock him to the ground.

The bear swiped at the man, who incurred significant wounds from being clawed, including wounds to the head, neck, both arms, lower abdomen, shoulder and calf.

The man still managed to escape the bear's attack and run to a bedroom.

He contacted authorities, and when they arrived they were able to push the bears outside the home.

The bears did not go far. They simply climbed trees on the property and waited for another crack at their escaped dinner.

Meanwhile,

Emergency medical personnel were able to treat the victim's wounds on the scene, and the victim declined to be transported to the hospital.

That's one tough geezer!

'It's certainly lucky we didn't have a fatality, because it was close,' said CPW wildlife officer Lucas Martin.

Since the bears were still hanging out in the trees outside the house and clearly saw the humans inside as an easy source of food, the Fish and Wildlife officers had to put the whole family of bears down.

'When we have multiple sows with multiple cubs in town and conflict is occurring based on the ongoing availability of human food sources, it creates a very complex situation to mitigate,' said Martin. 'Unfortunately, cub bears that are taught these behaviors by their mother may result in generations of conflict between bears and people.'

It makes sense, but it's still a sad ending to see those bears go.

Huge props to our old geezer for fighting off these bears and surviving to live another day!
