You read that headline right. A 35-year-old and a 15-year-old have been arrested for committing a mass shooting of 9 CHILDREN at a Columbus, Georgia gas station 10 days ago. The youngest victim was just 5 years old.
The victims of the shooting were identified as seven boys – ages 5, 12, 13, 14, 15, 15, and 17 – and two girls, both 13 years old. Thank GOD none of them were killed!
From the Columbus, Georgia Police Department:
Two people have been arrested one week after a shooting that left 9 children injured. D'Angelo Robinson, Sr., 35, and an unnamed 15-year-old male are in custody on aggravated assault charges. Robinson, Sr. is in the Muscogee County Jail tonight while the juvenile suspect is in custody at the Regional Youth Detention Center.
On Friday, February 17, 2023 at 10:11 p.m., Columbus Police Officers responded to that shooting in the 4400 block of Warm Springs Road (Shell Gas Station). Nine victims, all under the age of 18, were treated for non-life threatening injuries at local hospitals.
Immediately following that incident, and for the next 7 days, investigators continued to interview witnesses, gather information, analyze evidence and were ultimately able to establish probable cause to issue arrest warrants for the two suspects.
Robinson, Sr. is charged with 8 counts of Aggravated Assault. The juvenile suspect, whose name will not be released at this time, has been identified as a validated gang member. He is charged with one count of Aggravated Assault. Additional charges are pending.
The definition of Aggravated Assault in Georgia is "assault with the intent to murder, rape, or rob another person." The "additional charges are pending" sign-off from the police makes me think (hope) that attempted murder charges are coming. I can't see how spraying a crowd of children with bullets and hitting 9 of them is NOT attempted murder.
All mass shootings are terrible, of course, but a mass shooting targeting children seems particularly heinous and evil. Yet I would bet that you have not heard about this story until you read this article, despite the corporate media's love of squeezing every last minute of coverage out of mass shootings in America in order to further their own political agenda.
Only some mass shootings, apparently.
So why isn't this a headline news story? Why aren't we having a national conversation about this mass shooting, as we have about others? Why aren't we seeing video after video? Where are the crying parents? Where are the celebrities? Where are the mainstream talking heads? Where is the outrage?
For crying out loud, 9 children were shot by a 35-year-old man!
What is different about this horrific mass shooting that makes it rather inconsequential to our media?
I'll leave that up to you to answer for yourself, dear reader.
