"The mail never stops!" Newman famously declared on Seinfeld.

But what if, sometimes — just every so often — it does?

A Baltimore County neighborhood hasn't received mail for over a month after a dog allegedly bit the mail carrier.

Neighbors are frustrated.

I gotta say, if these people are merely "frustrated," they've got remarkable self-restraint. I'd be a little teeny bit more angry than that if the U.S. Postal Service just up and stopped bringing mail to my mailbox.

Here's the video:

Local resident Alex Zaslov claims that his dog was the one who reportedly bit the mailman. But he says his dog is "the sweetest thing" that merely "chase[s] (people) off of the property as soon as he gets out" and "barks at everything."

Zaslov says the whole thing is a misunderstanding:

"The dog probably ran into her, he didn't actually chomp down, there was no flesh taken out, she wasn't bleeding."

Maybe that's true. It wouldn't be the first time a government worker overreacted to something. Then again, if the postal service is staying away for a month, I feel like maybe they have good reason to do so?

On the other hand, this is the U.S. federal government we're talking about. And it seems quite obvious that the local postal system in Baltimore is not exactly firing on all cylinders:

"It's pretty inconvenient because we have to go to the post office to get our mail every day," said Suri Cohen. "Sometimes they close early due to staffing issues. There will be a sign on the door saying, 'Sorry, we closed at 1:30 today.'"

Sounds like these people should be writing to their congressmen to resolve this!

Or the USPS could just, you know, install a new mail carrier on that route, give him some pepper spray, and solve the problem immediately.
