This Brit accidentally paid £666 for a veggie burger and can't get a refund ... just in case you need one more reason to not eat veggie burgers

Now, I'd say his first mistake was ordering a veggie burger. Once that order leaves your mouth, you deserve whatever comes next.

And what came next for this Brit was Apple Pay accidentally charging him £666 or more than $800 American dollars which he can't get back.

A man who paid £666.50 for a veggie burger on the way home from a night out is now struggling to get a refund. The late-night reveller was left out of pocket after mistakenly forking out money for the fast food which should have only cost £6.50.

35-year-old Toby Wilson unknowingly spent hundreds on the veggie burger and chips meal at food truck Efe's Kebab Kitchen in York but only saw the impact on his account days later when he checked his bank account. According to WalesOnline, he discovered his bank balance had dropped "significantly" but when he approached the business owner, Ahmed Abdullah, about the humungous card payment, he said the vendor told him to seek a refund through his bank.

More than a month later, Toby, a HR manager, says the pair remain in a stalemate over any possible repayment of the costly late-night dinner. He believes no fraudulent activity took place but said the initially "funny" saga had caused him unending weeks of "stress".

Always, always check your receipts, people. The food truck guy added another £660 to his order and the dude just whipped out his Apple Pay and didn't notice it for days.

Again, this is what you get for eating a veggie burger.

"It's very frustrating," Toby said. "Admittedly, at the start, it was a bit of a funny story. I thought it would be quickly sorted out and the banks would go, 'Yep, it's an error'. But the bank is very slow at doing things.

"They said, 'have you got a receipt?' The human aspect of it is I don't. No one has a receipt for things like that. I have a mortgage and bills to pay. It is just very worrying. The point is the money is mine, and it's a significant amount."

The dude just can't get any help.

And, honestly, I don't know the details, and neither do you. It's not clear who is at fault here.

Toby said: "Being a large conglomerate, they have rules to follow and things like that. I explained the story to them, and they essentially need him to say 'Yes, it's happened.'

"I've worked in hospitality, so I know how these things work. I know he'd be able to see it in his accounts and what that transaction would relate to. It wouldn't relate to anything, because I didn't pay £666.50 for a veggie burger. He would be able to see that."

Toby is still stunned and at times in disbelief that he managed to spend hundreds on a burger and chips meal that should have cost him a few pounds in loose change.

I just gotta say, I hope that was one good veggie burger!
