A city councilman in Portland, Maine is under fire for selling offensive and hateful "humorous" stickers at the coffee shop he runs.
Andrew Zarro is a business owner and council member in Portland, Maine and he apparently has quite the distaste for God and Republicans.
Among the phrases on these stickers, one that sticks out immediately is "Abort Republicans":
He also has a sticker that says "Defund God" because, I guess, any symbol of true authority and justice needs to be defunded and abolished.
Then we have this particularly classy sticker, "Thank you for making me a godless heaux," which is a proclamation that one is proudly anti-religious and sexually promiscuous.
Just the normal sorts of things you like to see your elected leaders endorse.
According to the Post Millennial, Zarro's views are "a shock" considering his views on tolerance and inclusivity:
"The controversial stickers came as a surprise to many considering the LGBTQ council member's frequent pro-equality and inclusivity messaging.
Only a few weeks before these stickers were shared to "Little Woodfords" Instagram account, the coffee shop sold posters that stated "All Are Welcome Here."
"All races, classes, ages, religions, bodies, abilities, genders, identities, sexual orientations, countries of origin are welcome here," the posters said. The posters did not specify that all those are welcome regardless of political leaning or affiliation."
"All are welcome here, except Republicans, who should be killed" would be a more honest representation of this business owner's beliefs.
Also, all religions are welcome, but also we need to "abolish God." Because those are two views that can actively coexist.
It's almost like the hypocrisy is the point.
"All are welcome unless they disagree with me."
