The holidays are always a good time to get some housecleaning done while you're off work and you have a few extra hands around the house.

One family in Denver took the opportunity on New Year's Eve to gather items to donate to their local thrift store. Little did they know that when they were loading a recliner to drop off, the family cat was hidden inside the gears of the chair.

The family decided to donate the chair in the midst of a move and didn't realize the cat had hidden in it. The owner said with all the commotion, the cat, Montequlla must have crawled up in the chair to get out of the way.

The folks at the thrift store found the cat later on that day, and it did not look too happy with its new home.

The folks at the thrift store called animal control and they scanned it for a microchip I.D. They tried contacting the owners to no avail.

Later that day the owners realized their cat, Montequlla, was missing and called the thrift store, guessing that they may have accidentally given away their pet.

The family and cat were reunited, and an absolute catastrophe was averted!
