Oprah Winfrey was seen on the Hawaiian island of Maui helping wildfire survivors who had their homes destroyed last week, but the camera crew she had brought along was mysteriously missing:

Yeah, the reason that video was shot on a phone is because the daytime TV goddess did NOT receive the warm welcome I'm sure she was expecting.

A CBS camera crew led by Oprah Winfrey was not allowed access to an emergency shelter in Maui, Hawaii after they had tried to secure access to the building. "Out of respect for those who have come to seek safety and shelter at emergency shelters, our policy remains that no media are given access," the County of Maui said in a statement.

Oprah owns thousands of acres of land in Maui, so the fires were likely personally relevant to her. She has contributed to relief efforts, giving cash and supplies to rescuers and those who have been displaced by the disaster.

I'll add my two cents cuz you're here and why not: I have no problem with billionaires and I'm glad Oprah wants to give aid, but when you're a famous person and you bring a TV crew to document how you're helping all the little people, it makes us feel like it's a PR stunt, even if its not. Props to her for showing up in person, but celebs should know you've got to be careful how you use your name to bring awareness to human suffering.

I'll leave you with a helpful tip from Jesus for people looking to help after a disaster:

So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
