There are some messed up people in the world.

Just listen to the details of this case: Wisconsin nurse Mary K. Brown cut off a man's foot in the nursing home because it had frostbite.

Why?

She wanted it for a display in her taxidermy shop.

She took the foot and put it up in the window with a sign that read:

Wear Your Boots, Kids!

The guy died days later (Though the criminal complaint did not connect the death to the rogue amputation).

Still, you'd think cutting some dude's foot off, stuffing it, and displaying it like a trophy in the window of your shop might carry a pretty stiff penalty, even if they couldn't pin her with murder.

You'd be wrong.

Brown cut a sweetheart deal with the judge and prosecutors.

When she was first arrested she pled not guilty:

But she changed her plea to "no contest," and the court lowered her charges.

In the end, she paid a measly $443.

That's just about the price of a human foot from a licensed scientific dealer.

More from the NY Post:

Although Brown escaped a jail sentence, she may face disciplinary proceedings from the Wisconsin Board of Nursing and is no longer allowed to work as a caregiver in any capacity.
