Sometimes you lose something and never see it again. But sometimes it comes back to you, after quite literally a lifetime:
A wallet lost in 1958 turned up in the unlikeliest of places more than six decades later โ behind the bathroom wall of a historic Atlanta movie theater in what was once a closet.
"It was a portal back in time," Plaza Theatre owner Chris Escobar told CNN.
The theater itself is a snazzy-looking building:
The owners were knocking down part of the bathroom wall when the wallet turned up:
Inside, they found "black-and-white family photos, a raffle ticket to win a shiny new 1959 Chevrolet and insurance cards," and other items such as defunct credit cards. A name on a driver's license led them to the family of local resident Floy Culbreth:
Culbreth died about 10 years ago, may she rest in peace, but her 71-year-old daughter still lives in the area and went with Culbreth's grandchildren and great-grandchildren to pick it up:
Watching her own 5- and 7-year-old grandchildren look at the items found in their great-grandmother's wallet was "a special moment" for Chamberlain.
"They knew it was something to be treasured."
The Plaza Theater is "Atlanta's longest continuously operating independent movie theatre and a city landmark."
