The U.S. Semiquincentennial Commission established by Congress in 2016 has a patriotic message for all Americans:

The 250th anniversary of Independence Day is July 4, 2026.

Two centuries ago, spurred by faith in Jesus Christ and the laws of liberty and reason that emerged exclusively from Christian teaching, America's Founding Fathers created one nation, under one God, from whom we derive the very concept of inalienable rights.

Now, a nonpartisan commission tasked specifically with honoring America's founding ideals is publicly celebrating the Hindu faith?

America's most prominent politicians also widely celebrated the day, including top Republicans.

The Apostle Paul gave teachings for followers of Jesus Christ to navigate different cultures and religious traditions. He learned the literature and poetry of the people he visited, and treated all people with respect.

But he tore his clothing in horror when he was once associated with Zeus (Acts 14) and was grieved to see so many idols in Athens (Acts 17). He did not shame pagan cultures for their traditions, but called them to repentance, knowing that false gods destroy people and their nations.

I wonder what he'd think of the governor of Texas - a self-professed Christian man serving as the administrator of a state founded by Christians - honoring a Hindu holiday while statues of monkey gods are erected on his watch? πŸ‘‡
