If you hate your country so much that you're going to be a brat when the national anthem plays, go find another country:
A US hammer thrower turned away from the American flag as the national anthem played while she and two other athletes stood on the podium at the Olympic trials Saturday, later saying she was "pissed" that "The Star-Spangled Banner" played as she received her bronze medal.
Gwen Berry — who qualified for her second US Olympic team during the trials — shifted to face the stands rather than the flag before holding up a black shirt that read, "Activist Athlete."
"I feel like it was a setup, and they did it on purpose," Berry said of the anthem being played. "I was pissed, to be honest."
"They had enough opportunities to play the national anthem before we got up there," Berry said in Oregon, where the trials are being held. "I was thinking about what I should do. Eventually I stayed there and I swayed, I put my shirt over my head."
Berry said the anthem doesn't "speak for" her, and that she's not competing in the games for America, but to "represent those… who died due to systemic racism."
What a clown!
Seriously, there are nearly 200 countries in the world. Go and live in one of them.
If America is so systemically evil and the Star-Spangled Banner is so rotten that you are going to throw a temper tantrum on the world stage, go and find a new nation. There must be tons of them that are better than the USA.
Oh but Berry claims she doesn't hate America:
She really loves America... she just hates the anthem, thinks she's been systemically oppressed, and probably would seethe at all my white privilege and toxic masculinity if I stood within eyesight of her.
(The jury is still out on whether she hates baseball and apple pie.)
Here were a few thoughts on this disgrace:
One super important thing to note: This woman didn't just get annoyed at hearing the anthem. She thought it was a "setup" to play the anthem while she was on the podium at the trials.

How narcissistic do you have to be??
A representative for U.S. Track and Field had to actually respond to this stupid claim by pointing out that the anthem was automatically set to play at a certain time during the trials and there is no conspiracy to systemically oppress social justice warriors by torturing them with their own national anthem.
This isn't the same as athletes raising a fist for civil rights – athletes who wanted to make America better by seeing the language of the Declaration upheld by treating all men as equals. This was a spoiled woke brat exuding hatred for the very foundations of America itself and thinking the world revolves entirely around her.
What a way to start the Olympics.
