An 80-year-old woman was being held hostage by a lunatic and her daughter saved her life because the mom hadn't sent over her daily Wordle score

Look, I still don't really know what Wordle is. I think it's kind of like Scrabble but also like Words with Friends or something? Or is it like that old Facebook game World Challenge? I dunno.

In any event, the game—whatever it is—has officially saved at least one life:

Denyse Holt, 80, had been held hostage for nearly 17 hours earlier this week after a naked man broke into her home in Lincolnwood, according to a local CBS station.

The man, who was not named, reportedly entered Holt's home, dragged her around the house and disconnected her phone lines before locking her into her basement bathroom.

"I didn't think I was going to live," Holt told CBS Chicago.

Her daughter alerted police to check on Holt's home on Sunday night when she realized that Holt had not sent her score for the daily word puzzle and had not answered the phone, the news outlet noted.

Wordle be all like:

Notably, Holt's other daughter was also concerned because her mother had not texted her that morning. This lady has some very good daughters. Go and be this loyal to your parents.

Seriously, this is a great story. It has all the happy elements: The safe recovery of a loved one, the strong bonds of family, the serendipitous use of technology. You can't write stuff like this!

Still not sure what Wordle is, though.
