Every friend group has the one guy who's always like, "Oh, great white sharks aren't that dangerous, they get a bad reputation because of Jaws, they only rarely attack humans."
Well, who knows, maybe that guy is right. But a family in Mandurah, Australia probably wasn't thinking about it last week when a great white tried to swallow them whole:
A great white shark has attacked the motor of a Western Australian family's boat, circling them for over an hour.
David Tuckfield, his wife Tanya and their 14-year-old son Shelby fishing on their 7.2 metre boat off the coast of Mandurah, south of Perth, on Good Friday when a large shark approached.
Mr Tuckerfield told 9News the shark - measuring between three and four metres - did not leave for an hour and fixated on the motor, chomping at it several times.
"We had a big visitor from the deep come up, nice size ... white pointer," he said.
Yeah, that's Australia for you: Most people would be trembling and weeping while describing the great beast...
...but this dude was like, "Ah yeah, he came up from the deep, he was a nice size, he paid us a visit."
Australians have no fear of nature because nature in Australia is always one or two meters away from eating your face.
Here's some footage of that fearsome monster:
Props to the family for restraining themselves and not chucking a pressurized tank in this thing's mouth and blowing it up!
