This is a tragic story out of the DC suburbs. Unfortunately, this is the type of thing that is becoming all too common.

A mother of four and grandmother to eight was killed in Sterling, Virginia, Sunday after someone stole her car outside a shopping center, authorities say.

Melody Waldecker, 54, had just walked into a 7-Eleven at the Town Center at Sterling shopping center when she noticed a man getting into her Kia Sorento and tried to stop him, her family members said.

This illegal immigrant from El Salvador is accused of running over a grandmother with her own car during a carjacking by Jose Aguilar-Martinez, a "gotaway" illegal immigrant who wasn't counted crossing the border.

Responding deputies with the Loudoun County Sheriff's Office were called around 11:30 a.m. and found Waldecker dead at the scene. Investigators determined she was struck by her own vehicle as the suspected carjacker fled the scene.

Aguilar-Martinez was found and arrested about 45 minutes later. He was taken to a local hospital after appearing to have an unrelated medical condition, the news outlet reported.

ICE has placed a detainer on Aguilar-Martinez and hopefully he will be deported out of the country. That is if Loudoun County, Virginia, complies with the federal request.
