NBA player Marcus Smart claims "no one remembers the 2nd U.S. president" and John Adams may never recover from this

Boston Celtics point guard Marcus Smart on Friday offered some sage wisdom for a fan looking to up his own basketball game: "Get strong...Take charges. Be a [great] teammate."

All great advice! But then things took a little turn for the weird:

Compete. Never be ok w losing. No one remembers the 2nd US President. Only the 1st.

Haauhhh what now? Nobody remembers the second U.S. president, i.e. John Adams?

(Just in case it's unclear, that's a GIF from the HBO miniseries John Adams, an epic biopic about the life of that guy nobody remembers, John Adams.)

People gave Smart some healthy good-natured grief over his complete and total facepalm, but Smart—who, true to form, was obviously not okay with losing this one—just went ahead and doubled down:

Total boss move. He's not wrong, either. He was still at it the next morning, too:

To be 100% fair, first place is better than second place! The guy is just dropping truth bombs left and right.

Spare a thought, meanwhile, for John Adams, who has been forgotten by everyone in the country, including the author of this post after he got done writing it.
